Who I support

There are times when everyone experiences difficult, distressing feelings which interfere with everyday life and relationships. Confiding in friends or family members doesn’t always feel right. That’s when it can be helpful to talk things through with a completely neutral person who you know will be supportive and won’t make judgments about what you say.

Whether your problems are from the past, right now or are impacting on your future, exploring the issues in a confidential place with an experienced, qualified counsellor can help you to face challenges, make changes and move forward in the way that is right for you.

Areas of support offered

  • Individual therapy can be invaluable when struggling with a specific challenge in life such as infertility, a new job, menopause, retirement, kids leaving home or change to your family circumstance. It can be invaluable to explore difficulties you are experiencing and understand yourself better and gain insight.

For some, individual therapy is essential to cope with trauma and traumatic events and to learn how to live with and around difficult experiences and build confidence and acceptance of who you are today.

Every single person is different, has different experiences and perspectives, different feelings and beliefs. Our struggles are held in a wider context of their our own history. As result, therapy is completely unique to the individual and odes not follow a set pathway. Together we will gently explore the issues you want to explore and navigate our way towards greater acceptance, understanding and change.

  • Couples counselling can be transformative as it focuses on communication, awareness, and reconnection. I work with the couple together and offer individual sessions as part of the couples work. From repairing after an affair or breach of trust to reinvigorating a relationship that has gone off the boil, couples therapy can help life get back on track and improve family relationships. I also work with couples who have decided to separate and want to get to a point where they can move forward with kindness in order to maintain a good relationship for the children.

  • I work with people who are experiencing bereavement and are in grief. It is one of the hardest times in a person’s life and yet it is difficult for many people to talk about. Worse still, it can feel like people around you don’t want to talk to you about your sadness. They might be saying to cheer up or avoid you completely. It can feel lonely and isolating. Therapy can be a valuable and essential part of your grief process. You can talk about your loved one, rage against them if you need to, address your own fears for your future and allow time and space for your sadness. This is gentle work with some practical support.

  • Life can feel overwhelming and difficult at times and yet people sit with the notion they “should be happy”. Therapy can help you understand what you are experiencing and give you the time and space to explore it without judgement or expectations. Whether you have experienced a bout of depression or are feeling anxious about a forthcoming change in your life we can work together and find ways to build your awareness and confidence and think about practical solutions.

  • I offer therapeutic support to people who are in the public eye whether public speaking regularly, appearing on television or working in the media. This work is longer term and focuses on sense of self, identity, resilience, trauma, boundaries, and communication. If you are an individual or a production company seeking this support, Please email me to arrange an initial conversation.

It’s less about fixing other people and more about exploring why their way of being affects you.
